Published minimums

SourceWhat it says
HomeGuideTypical minimum job fee $100–$150+; most cleaners have a 1- or 2-room minimum. For 1–3 rooms, the lowest reported cost is $75.
Angi (Sep 2026)Minimum service fees of $75–$125, or trip charges, for small jobs. Travel or fuel surcharges $10–$40.

Why a minimum matters

Setup and pack-up (hoses, equipment, floor protection) and the drive take the same time whether you clean one room or five. With the calculator’s example numbers, one room and a hallway needs about 65 minutes of work plus a 20-minute drive. Without a minimum, the price would be $80.33; the $125 minimum makes it $125, paying about $77.41 per hour.

Example only, using the calculator’s starter numbers: $60 per hour target, 25 minutes per room and 10 per hallway, 30 setup minutes, $10 per cleaning hour for equipment, $3 of chemicals per area, 10 round-trip miles at $0.35 per mile, 20 minutes of driving, $125 minimum, rounded up to $5. These are not market rates.

Say it on your price sheet

Write your minimum (for example “Minimum job: 2 rooms or $125”) on your price sheet and in every quote.

FAQ

What is a typical carpet cleaning minimum charge?

HomeGuide says the typical minimum job fee is $100–$150+, and most cleaners have a 1- or 2-room minimum. Angi lists minimum service fees of $75–$125 or trip charges for small jobs.

Should I charge a trip fee instead?

Some pros do. Angi mentions travel or fuel surcharges of $10–$40. A minimum job price is simpler for clients and covers setup and driving on small jobs.

How do I pick my minimum?

Work out what one small job costs you in setup, pack-up, driving and equipment, then set the minimum so that job still pays your minimum hourly rate.
