Wages are not prices
These are employee wages. As an independent cleaner or owner, your price also has to cover unpaid time (quotes, texts, admin, driving), supplies, your vehicle, insurance, self-employment taxes and time off. That’s why business rates are usually well above employee wages. If you hire, these numbers help you check that what you pay is competitive in Arizona.
Same home at three target rates
The calculator’s sample home (1,800 sq ft, 3 bed, 2 bath, no pets, one-time standard clean, 2 cleaners) priced at three target rates. Pick the one that fits your costs and market:
| Target per person-hour | Price | Real pay per person-hour after drive |
|---|---|---|
| $35 | $120 | $31.98 |
| $50 | $160 | $43.63 |
| $65 | $205 | $56.74 |
Example only, using the calculator’s starter numbers: $50 per person-hour target, $6 supplies, 12 round-trip miles at $0.35, $120 minimum job, prices rounded up to $5, average condition, no pets. Deep = 1.8× standard time, move-out = 2.2×, first clean = 1.5×. These are not market rates. Here the target rate changes in each row; at $35 the $120 minimum job price applies.
