Weekly vs every-two-weeks mowing: how to price it
Updated November 1, 2026 · QuoteCubby
Why every-two-weeks mowing usually costs more per visit, published weekly vs biweekly prices, and how to turn a visit price into a monthly or seasonal contract.
Weekly vs every two weeks (HomeGuide)
| Yard size | Weekly | Every 2 weeks |
|---|---|---|
| ⅛ acre | $30–$40 | $40–$50 |
| ¼ acre | $45–$65 | $60–$85 |
| ½ acre | $50–$75 | $65–$100 |
| 1 acre | $60–$100 | $80–$150 |
Source: HomeGuide (dated 2023). HomeGuide also lists $900–$2,000 a year for 25–35 visits on a ¼-acre yard and says single visits cost about 50% more than weekly service on an annual contract.
Turning a visit price into a monthly price
- Weekly: price × 52 ÷ 12 (about 4.33 visits a month)
- Every 2 weeks: price × 26 ÷ 12 (about 2.17 visits a month)
- Season: price × number of visits in your mowing season
Season length depends on your local climate, so count the visits you actually expect.
Worked example
| Schedule | Per visit | About per month | Real $/hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly | $60 | $260 | $40.96 |
| Every 2 weeks (+25%) | $75 | $162 | $52.18 |
| One-time (+50%) | $90 | – | $63.40 |
Example only, using the calculator’s starter numbers: $50 per hour target, 4 mowing minutes and 2 trim/edge/blow minutes per 1,000 sq ft, 10 setup minutes, +15% for some trees and beds, $4 equipment cost per mowing hour, 8 round-trip miles at $0.35 per mile, 15 minutes of driving, $40 minimum, rounded up to $5. These are not market rates. The +25% and +50% adjustments are the calculator’s starter numbers, not market data.

Should I charge more for mowing every two weeks?
Many companies do, because the grass is longer at each visit. In HomeGuide’s table, every-two-weeks prices are higher per visit than weekly prices for every yard size (for example $60–$85 vs $45–$65 for ¼ acre).
How do I price a seasonal contract?
Multiply your per-visit price by the visits in your season. HomeGuide lists $900–$2,000 a year for 25–35 visits on a ¼-acre yard. Season length depends on your climate.
Should I bill monthly?
Monthly billing smooths income for you and the client. For weekly service, a month averages 52 ÷ 12 ≈ 4.33 visits; for every two weeks, 26 ÷ 12 ≈ 2.17.
