Write your fees down before anyone asks

Fees cause the fewest arguments when they’re on your price list before the booking. List each fee, what triggers it, and whether it’s per visit, per day or per booking. Decide which days count as holidays and what “last-minute” means (for example, under 48 hours).

Worked example

With the calculator’s example numbers, 2 drop-ins a day for 5 days is $290. Make one of those days a holiday at +25% and it’s $305. Book it last-minute at +20% instead and it’s $348.

Example only, using the calculator’s starter numbers: $45 per hour target, 5 admin minutes per visit, 6 round-trip miles at $0.35 per mile, 20 minutes of driving per trip, $20 minimum visit, prices rounded up to $1. These are not market rates.
