Pressure washing minimum charge: how to set one

Updated November 1, 2026 · QuoteCubby

Why small pressure washing jobs need a minimum price, what published sources say, and how to work out your own floor.

What the sources say about minimums

  • Angi: small jobs, like a one-car driveway, may trigger a minimum charge (Angi).
  • HomeGuide: many companies have a $150 minimum for roof cleaning, and small jobs cost more per square foot because of the minimum service charge. Its reported job costs run from about $100 at the low end to $500 at the high end, around a $211 national average (HomeGuide, dated 2024).

Why a minimum matters: worked example

With the calculator’s example numbers, a 200 sq ft patio is about 0.9 hours of work, mostly setup and cleanup. Without a minimum, the time-based price would be $70, which pays $44.50 per hour once you count the 30-minute drive. With the $150 minimum it’s $150.

Example only, using the calculator’s starter numbers: $65 per hour target, 500 sq ft per hour on flat concrete and 750 on siding, $5 / $10 chemicals per 1,000 sq ft, $8 equipment cost per washing hour, 30 minutes setup and cleanup, 10 round-trip miles at $0.35, 30 minutes driving, $150 minimum, rounded up to $5. These are not market rates.

Ways to handle small jobs

  • Set a minimum job price and say it up front.
  • Offer to add a nearby surface (walkway, steps, patio) to reach the minimum.
  • Group small jobs in the same neighborhood on the same day.
  • Add a travel fee for far-away jobs.

Check your own numbers

The free QuoteCubby pressure washing calculator prices driveways, house exteriors and decks from your own production rate, chemical cost and setup time, adds the drive, and shows what you really earn per hour.

FAQ

Should pressure washers have a minimum charge?

Most should. Angi notes small jobs like a one-car driveway may trigger a minimum charge, and HomeGuide notes many companies have a $150 minimum for roof cleaning and that small jobs cost more per sq ft because of the minimum service charge.

How do I pick my minimum?

Add up what every job costs you before you clean anything: setup and cleanup time, the drive there and back, and fuel. Price that at your target hourly rate. That’s your floor.

Should I offer a bundle discount?

Washing two surfaces on one trip saves you a drive and a setup. A small bundle discount can pass some of that saving on. The calculator lets you set one for jobs with 2 or more surfaces.
