Angi’s figures come from projects reported by pros on its platform. The sources measure different things, which is why their ranges differ.

Minimums are common: HomeGuide says most companies have minimum job fees of $100–$250 (HomeGuide), and Angi lists $75–$150 for small jobs (Angi). HomeGuide’s guide for pros suggests a simple cost-plus starting point with a 20% profit margin (HomeGuide).

How to set your own price

  1. Time a few homes. Note minutes per standard window and per large window or glass door, inside and out.
  2. Add setup and pack-up time for every job, plus extra for upper stories, screens and tracks.
  3. Price the time at your target hourly pay, then add supplies and the drive.
  4. Set a minimum job price so small jobs still cover the stop.
  5. Check the real hourly pay: price minus costs, divided by all hours including the drive.
  6. Compare with your market. The ranges above are national; look at local competitors.

Worked example

With the calculator’s example numbers, a one-story home with 20 standard windows and 2 large ones, inside and out, comes to $260 ($11.82 per window). It takes about 251 minutes of work, and after supplies, gas and a 20-minute drive it pays about $55.68 per hour, not $60. Outside only, the same home is $155; on two stories it’s $320.

Example only, using the calculator’s starter numbers: $60 per hour target, 10 minutes per standard window and 18 per large window (inside and out), 15 setup minutes, $5 supplies, 10 round-trip miles at $0.35 per mile, 20 minutes of driving, $150 minimum, rounded up to $5. These are not market rates.
