1. A pricing calculator, to decide what to charge
The QuoteCubby house cleaning calculator is free with no account. It estimates time from the home, prices standard, deep, move-out and first cleans from your target rate, shows your real pay per hour after supplies and driving, and writes the client text in English or Spanish. Not included: scheduling, invoices or payments.
2. A quote template, to send it in writing
The free cleaning quote template works in Google Sheets or Excel, with a printable PDF. Not included: online approval or reminders; you send it yourself.
3. Square Invoices (Square Free plan), to send estimates and get paid
Square lists invoices, recurring invoices and estimates on its free plan, with no monthly fee. On that plan, card payments made online or through an invoice cost 3.3% + 30¢, and ACH bank transfers on invoices cost 1% ($1 minimum) (Square). Good for: a professional estimate that turns into an invoice the client can pay by card. Not included: working out the price.
4. Wave Starter, for estimates, invoices and bookkeeping
Wave’s Starter plan is $0 and lists unlimited estimates, invoices and bookkeeping records. Optional online card payments start at 2.9% + $0.60 per transaction (Wave). Good for: keeping income and expenses tidy for tax time. Not included: scheduling.
5. Google Sheets or Google Calendar, for everything else
A shared calendar and a simple client sheet cover scheduling and client notes for many solo cleaners, at no cost with a free Google account.
When to move to a paid app
Paid cleaning software does real work the free stack doesn’t: online booking, automatic reminders, recurring scheduling, client portals and team tools. If you’re juggling recurring clients or hiring, compare these starting prices for one person:
