Price one-time work from time, not from your route price
A one-time cleaning takes much longer than a route visit, and there is no next week to spread the drive over. The calculator treats it as one long visit with its own minimum:
| One-time cleaning, example numbers | Price | Real $/hour |
|---|---|---|
| Medium pool (3× route time) | $150 | $88.58 |
| Large pool with lots of trees (3× route time) | $150 | $54.39 |
| Large pool with lots of trees (5× route time) | $220 | $52.00 |
Example only, using the calculator’s starter numbers: $55 per hour target, 25 minutes of cleaning for a medium pool on weekly full service (15% less for a small pool, 35% more for a large one), 5 minutes of setup, $8 of chemicals per visit with a 15% markup, 5 miles and 15 minutes of driving per stop at $0.35 per mile, $100 monthly minimum, $150 one-time minimum, rounded up to $5. These are not market rates. The “3× route time” is the calculator’s +200% starter number, not a standard time. The first two rows hit the $150 one-time minimum, which is why a one-time minimum matters.
Green pools
Give green-pool recovery its own quote: say how many visits you expect, what chemicals are included and that the price may change if the water needs more. Many pros sell recovery first, then offer weekly service once the water is clear.
Always follow the chemical label and your local rules. This isn’t safety advice.
Check your own numbers
The free QuoteCubby pool cleaning calculator prices weekly, every-2-weeks or one-time service from your pool size, service level, trees, spa, chemicals and route, and shows what you really earn per hour including the drive between stops.
